ZIM - without the - BRA

Published by cfrances at 8:51 am under free Edit This

UPON my search in Technorati I ran across a post on Zimbra - a FF (insert-popup-FireFox) leftover when I reopened my browser - having already uninstalled Zimbra desktop in favor of Facedesk, an add-on desktop compliment to Facebook (online of course)…

My disappointment with Zimbra is only outmatched by my initial non-sub-standard-GLEE at finding this app. for desktop callendaring and email integration…(every syncwizard emulator and other good but slow apps like Chandler.org that include downloads for desktop syncing are either still in beta or a waitlist for signup, or not calendar integrated without overdoing the ical bit)…

i am a diehard Yahoo! member 009 user for lack of a better word..
WHY? my first email username is with Yahoo! (more or less, excepting the UW-Madison trickery - ctfarp_2000-).

Okay, so I had to learn zimbra linux sub lingo for installing apps, that is until I located one of their many forum posts, found windows xp compatible with ff link for downloading addons and successfully installed via cmd lines….apps, but then it became even slower - the calories increased with each intall…

Okay, so I was shocked to see this article reading:
Zimbra’s User Count Exceeds Gmail

Just a couple of months ago, Zimbra reported that it had exceeded 20 million paid mailboxes and just now has announced it reached 40 million, surpassing the number of Gmail users . Zimbra, of course, is not quite in the same game as Gmail since Zimbra only offers its hosted solution for educational users, but one can get Zimbra hosted through a reseller . The software can also be downloaded and run on a local mail server at a company’s location. Zimbra’s competition lies more in the paid Gmail mailboxes or in Microsoft Exchange, but surpassing the number of Gmail users is a great feat.

The credit is to Yahoo! can they lighten the app?
