Computer alternatives…

Published by cfrances under Uncategorized Edit This

When you’ve exhausted all freeware possibilities for malware, spyware, hacker-safe anecdotes and genereal registry and backup programs, and are left with a ! + 0 = non-working computer, there is the next step in the blogosphere -

That is, where to dump the computer without being cited by your local city recylcing corp which usually prohibits electronic waste from being disposed of as regular trash…

Plus, why guilt ridden yourself from lack of computer 101 training (which, incidentally is hard to come by these days without previously programming your knowledge from grade one)…

Okay, so there are simple foolproof alteratives on my favorite links…Dealnews.com (best offers for low cost electonics are advertised here)….

They suggest The Goodwill (there is also Salvation Army and the St. Anthony’s Foundation in San Francisco but there are many Goodwills out there). If you have the means to transport your electronic computer parts like the modem (ha ha - hang onto that), and printers, peripherals that are 1/2 broken (and will be thorougly checked before being remarketed) as well as your laptop or PC, check out the Goodwill Industries.

Also noted on Dealnews is Dell partnering with Goodwill for the Reconnect program.

If you are not thinking of getting a tax deduction for losses on a personal business expenditure with your used/outdated or broken computer, there is also a listing of places that will consider compensation for your efforts and keeping the environment clean and safe:

…take advantage of Staples’ and Greensight’s trade-in program.

Lots of luck! And thanks Dealnews.com.
